English

1) What Are “Conditions of Work”?

“Conditions of Work” refers to the full set of rules that govern the employment relationship between a worker and an employer. It includes working hours, wages, leave, safety, medical care, termination policies, grievance procedures, and other workplace terms outlined in your employment contract.

2) Working Hours & Shifts

Cruise ship contracts often include long working hours and rotating shifts. Many roles operate 10–11 hours per day, 7 days a week during contract periods. Your exact schedule depends on your department and the cruise line’s policies.

3) Salary, Overtime & Tips

Your contract will clearly state your base salary, payment schedule, and whether overtime or service charge/tips apply. ETCAEA does not set wages—final pay terms are determined by the employer and authorized partners.

4) Leave & Vacation

Cruise employment usually follows fixed contract periods (often 6–9 months). Vacation or leave is typically provided after completion of the contract. Policies vary by cruise line and job category.

5) Health, Safety & Medical Care

Cruise companies provide safety training, safe working practices, and access to onboard medical facilities. Crew members must follow safety rules and procedures at all times.

6) Work Injuries & Compensation

In case of a work-related injury, medical care is typically provided onboard. Insurance and compensation policies depend on the employment contract and relevant maritime regulations.

7) Termination, Dismissal & Redundancy

If employment ends early, final pay and return travel arrangements are usually managed according to contract terms. Some situations may include notice periods or specific compensation depending on the agreement and policy.

8) Grievance & Complaint Procedures

Cruise companies have internal systems for reporting concerns, misconduct, or workplace issues. Crew should follow the official grievance procedures outlined by the employer.

9) Important Notice From ETCAEA

ETCAEA provides readiness support and guidance only. We do not guarantee jobs, visas, salary amounts, or placement. Final decisions are made by employers and authorized recruitment partners. Always review your official contract carefully before signing.
