🧭 ETCAea – Cruise Crew Training Program

Our training program prepares Ethiopian candidates to work confidently and professionally onboard international cruise ships.
It combines safety, hospitality skills, English, and professional preparation.

Module 1 – Introduction to Cruise Industry & ETCAea

• Overview of the global cruise industry

• Life at sea: contracts, schedules, cabins, multicultural crews

• ETCA code of conduct and expectations

Module 2 – STCW Basic Safety Training

(Delivered at approved maritime training centers)

• Personal Survival Techniques (PST)

• Fire Prevention and Firefighting (FPFF)

• Elementary First Aid (EFA)

• Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR)

• Practical drills and safety assessments

Module 3 – Shipboard Safety, Security & Hygiene

• Basic ship terminology and layout (decks, muster stations, zones)

• Emergency signals, muster drills, crowd management basics

• Personal hygiene and infection control (public health standards)

• Food safety & HACCP awareness for galley and F&B staff

Module 4 – Professional English for Cruise Work

• English for hospitality and customer service

• Common shipboard phrases & safety announcements

• Telephone and radio communication etiquette

• Interview preparation and CV language polishing

Module 5 – Hospitality & Service Excellence

• International hotel & cruise service standards

• Guest interaction, complaint handling, and upselling basics

• Cabin and public area housekeeping techniques

• Fine dining & buffet service (for F&B track)

Module 6 – Intercultural Awareness & Professional Behavior

• Working with multinational teams and guests

• Respect, tolerance, and conflict resolution

• Time management, discipline, and chain of command onboard

• Representing Ethiopia professionally at sea

Module 7 – Job-Specific Skills Tracks

• Housekeeping Track: room setup, cleaning standards, laundry basics

• Food & Beverage Track: table settings, tray handling, bar & restaurant basics

• Culinary Track: kitchen hierarchy, knife skills, food preparation & safety

• Spa & Wellness Track: customer care, hygiene, basic treatment overview

• Retail Track: customer service, sales techniques, POS basics

Module 8 – Documentation, Visa & Embarkation Preparation

• Checklist: passport, medical, STCW, police clearance, contracts

• Visa interview tips (C1/D, Schengen and other joining visas)

• Understanding contracts, payslips, and onboard accounts

• Embarkation day: travel, airport, port procedures & first day onboard

Module 9 – Financial Literacy & Personal Well-Being

• Managing salary, savings, and remittances

• Dealing with stress, seasickness, and homesickness

• Staying healthy onboard: sleep, nutrition, exercise
